Ultimate Fighter

Anyone watch this week's season premiere? It was pretty good..and bloody. Rampage made the classic mistake of thinking that size matters: once you put someone on their back, that is the great equalizer. The fight was pretty brutal, one of the bloodiest I have seen. This season should be good with rampage and rashad trash talking each other. rampage is pretty hilarious with his impressions of the fighters, saying he would take the camera man over his last pick His reference to bruce lee was good too...did anyone catch it? Hard to believe that this is the 10th season of the show. UFC, and MMA in general, has grown leaps and bounds since the first season... BTW, surprised the poster, formerly known as SOBAY, has not started a thread on this... ;)

Ah, yeah! This season will be great! My neighbor told be that Rampage was a comedian, but I didn't believe him til this show!

What an evil rip to that finance guys head. Wicked. He will need more than stitches, probably staples with internal stitches. I have never seen a MMA fight with that kind of cut since Franklin's nose was separated from his head!

Yeah rampage is funny. He sounds kind of dopey at times. Hopefully his evaluation of skills and training preparation of his fighters improve. His team lost before when he was the coach...

Yeah isn't he the guy with the upper mgmnt civil engineering job?? He better keep his day job :D

it was a good start to the season...and that was one of the most brutal injuries i have seen in mma...my wife was actually watching it with me (with one eye open and head turned), she said there is no way that he was coming out for round 2 and i agreed, can't believe the ring side DOC let him go out, that was brutal....

I am very curious to see how kimbo does....i am actually rooting for him now...once i saw those guys talking shit in the lineup about him my view changed...i hope he does well...

and i hope rampage destroys evans in their december fight

Thanks for starting the thread, Cyg!

That cut that Rampage's fighter got was insane. What a blood bath! Rashad seems like he spent a lot of time making sure he picked a good team. Rampage just went on size.

I want to see Kimbo do good, but something tells me he's going to get thrown on his back and beat up pretty quick.

Rampage pulled out of the fight so he can work on the upcoming A-Team movie. F'ng sucks!

Right..that is the movie he is working on. IMHO kimbo should be B.A. Baracas

When is the next new episode of UF? I checked the DVR guide and all it mentioned was reruns of last season...

I thought Wes (Rampage's Fighter) got hosed. Two out of the three judges scored it 20-18. I don't see how they gave the other dude the first round.

With that being said, how can these guys be gassed after 3 minutes? I don't mean a little winded, these guys were dying out there. All the training and cardio and they barely made it through the fight! I don't know what it's like to be in the Octagon, and I know it's severely grueling, but shouldn't their cardio training prepare them for this?

I loved the build up for the Kimbo fight next week. As soon as they went to the Fight Announcement near the end of the show (something they never do), I knew it was going to be Kimbo.

Next week: Kimbo vs. Big Roy

stoked!

Cygnus

Yeah I thought Wes won too. The prob is that he did not do much when he had the other guy on the mat. Clearly both fighters, esp Wes, were not ready to fight. It was pretty embarrassing for them to be so exhausted after the first round. Rashad was smart to select kimbo for the next fite...don't want him to get too much ground training...

SOBAY310
09-24-2009, 11:58 AM
I didn't even think of that being a strategy by Rashad. To get Kimbo in there before he gets more work. That DOES make sense!

I also think he's tired of Big Roy's attitude and wants to teach him a lesson like, "You think you can train yourself, fine, here you go!"

Just goes to show you how much people have evolved since the time of gladiators . Is this fun to watch? Do you like to watch men rolling around on top of each other? :haha:

man that was nasty when the camera zoomed in on Wes's gash on his forehead and the doc saying that he could see the bone!

Wes really needs to learn or practice his jiu jitsu. He almost had the other guy in an arm bar, but seemed like he was confused and didn't know how to pull it off. I thought when the other guy kept lunging at his torso that Wes would pull off a sprawl to prevent getting taken to the mat...

Uh, yeah, all we are doing is watching men roll around with each other.

I think Kimbo is going to win. They are really pimping him way to much for him not to. He might actually...Dare I say? Dominate?

That was a horrible fight with Kimbo and the fat dude. It may be the worst I've ever seen. The fat dude clearly won(actually twice) but he didn't do anything at all. Terrible.:what:

SOBAY310

Very, very disappointing. I can't believe Kimbo's ground defense hasn't gotten any better with how hard he trains. :(

I really feel bad for Kimbo. I've never, ever, saw someone lose by just getting laid on. Those shots he was taking weren't as hard as some games of thumps I've seen in middle school.

They are making it sound like Marcus is hurt and Kimbo may take his place. He's going to be back somehow. I think Dana is impressed with his work ethic.

I can now see how Brock Lesnar is on a different planet than these heavyweights. Can you imagine Brock vs. Roy? Fight is over in 11 seconds. Brock vs. Kimbo? Kimbo doesn't have a chance at the moment. I'm not impressed with the squad...yet.

What happened at the end of last nite’s episode? My DVR stopped recording at the point where rashad was giving rampage a hard time for not entering the ring when he fighter loss. I have to side with rashad on this. Rampage has to support his fighters, even when they lose. Its funny how with the fights I have seen; rampage’s fighters start out ahead but lose once the fight goes to the ground.

it only showed a preview of the conversation between Rashad and Rampage about Rampage not supporting his fighters if they lose. Rampage went out shrugging it off.

Kimbo and Alexander have a tremendously boring fight, aside from the KimboSlam!

And Roy Nelson wins TUF Season 10 with a vicious KO of Schaub.

Yeah they both need more work. Kimbo’s achille’s (sp?) knee could definitely shorten his career if it doesn’t improve. Houston was too tentative, fearing kimbo’s power. The former NFL guy (can’t think of his name) definitely needs to improve his punches. He punches like a kid. With his size and reach, he should have been jabbing and kicking more. He should have won the fight with meat head.

I agree, it was marcus jones that you are thinking of...

Cygnus
12-07-2009, 10:55 AM
Yeah marcus jones. He has potential. Too bad that the "hybrid" guy lost to big country. He should have moved more (sort of what houston did with kimbo) to tire him out. With his size, big country prob does not have much stamina. Schaub prob should add another 15-20 pounds of muscle because he does not look like a true UFC heavy weight.

that's the thing though...everyone says, big country looks fat (which he is) but his cardio is not bad at all...

Yea, people tend to judge a book by it's cover a bit too much when it comes to UFC. I'll take Roy Nelson's conditioning over Kimbo Slice anyday.

I think in that Kirby is the ultimate fighter..another season of TUF is ending. Especially this one, as it started out so promising but ended so blech when Clayton McKinney, Nick Ring and Rich Attonito were no longer in the mix.
