slow to change channels...

wondering if future tv's will be better than waiting 4 to 5 seconds between channel changes. were so used to the old system, with instant gratification, so if u do a lot of surfing its kinda annoying and slow. any hope? iis 4 to 5 seconds on my lcd the norm ? same for plasma?

It depends on the TV, the source and how it is connected (especially if you use a cable or satellite box). Your times are not unusual. If you are using a box, try connecting it to the TV via component cables for video (red, green, blue) and either optical or analog (red, white) for the audio. That way the cable/sat box lag will be eliminated.

Another reason for the delay when changing channels is that there is not just one resolution for all channels. With the mix of HD & SD we have 480i, 720p, and 1080i and the TVs need a moment to sync to the different resolution. You will notice if you change channels between two channels that are the same resolution that it is faster than changing from 480i to 720p channels.

I would use component as L2W states as this will remove the extra time for the HDCP handshake to occur and limit the lag to only resolution sync time.
