trouble starting already with celing mounted?

I had posted a question here about mounting my projector upside down on a ceiling mount? I had heard that doing so makes the heat travel different, causing problems. or projector failure all together. someone responded saying themselves, and thirty other people they know have had no issues? well, after having my projector for two weeks (used off eBay) it had no problems on a coffee table. I mounted it upside down....after three movies/two nights, red flashing lights, overheat warning????
aaaaahhhh! went to menu screen. told me my filter needs cleaning. only 90 hours on it????? my mount is a home made deal using two pieces of plexi-glass and an old car phone arm. I made sure I had enough clearance for the air to intake? it would be the same clearance if it where on a table?????? if the filter is the problem, how do I clean it? please help!!!!! only had projector for 3 weeks.....

Go online and get the owners manual for your projector. My suggestion would be to try http://www.retrevo.com first.

The hour meter could have been reset. That procedure will also be in the manual.

You have done a fine job of mounting the PJ as illustrated in your photos. The orientation of the pj is not an issue unless perhaps the ambient air temp near the ceiling is much higher than the rest of the room. I have seen this occur a few times as warm air rises, but with a clean filter and a thermometer check to verify that the temp at the PJ stays within operational limits, you should be good to go.
