I just developed a 2" wide stripe from the top of the screen to the middle that shows up as a pink hue.

Called panasonic but their factory reset instructions did not work.

Any suggestions, including how to get into the service menu would be appreciated

The service menu codes are tough to find for a good reason. Only professionals should go into it. Any wrong adjustments will likely render the set unusable.

Time to call a tech in for service. Did you get any type of extended warranty?

your right about the tech....no extended warranty. The set is hardly used, maybe 500 hours since new (20 months ago).

Shame. Definitely an anomaly. Panasonics are among the most reliable sets in the industry.

Contact Panasonic to see if they will cover the repair. It's worth a shot.

A vertical bar that extends upward or downward from the center of the screen to the top or bottom edge is usually a failure of the video board that controls that half of the screen (there's one for the top half and one for the bottom half).

Did you buy this TV with a good credit card that has the feature where they add one year to the factory warranty? If so, they'll pay to have the TV repaired.
