Well in this case it could be that the BD player is doing the upsampling but it would be from the 8 bit on the BD disc still. Or it could be that the display only does it with 1080p signals. Who knows for sure, but we do know that ALL BD titles are only 8 bit, as that is limited by the format's own specs.

Right now, Deep Color is purely marketing BS, and how the displays and BD players can get away with stating DC support is that the HDMI connection supports it despite there being no consumer level displays, media, nor hardware that can actually use it.
