Default 3D red/blue glasses not good for 3D TV?

Before I purchased my LG 60 3D TV I had some older 3D movies like Polar Express with the old red/blue glasses. The downside is that this movie is unable to reap the benefits of the 3D TV since the 3D tv uses the black glasses which makes this useless. What a shame and waste of money that I will need to purchase the Polar Express 3D Bluray for this to work with the TV.

You can still use your red/blue glasses with the dvd made for red/blue glasses but for the "new" standard of 3d on blu-rays and 3d channels you will need the active shutter glasses. Apples and oranges comparison.

I have the active LG Shutter glasses for my BluRay 3D dvds that work awesome. I wish there was a better universal (non paper) red blue glasses for the older red/blue movies
