As far as goofy and expensive glasses... you still wear those goofy and expensive sunglasses, doncha?

3D games won't change the industry. Porn, will be a negative (IMO) when it comes to 3D, glasses will always be a negative - but the one thing that can kill 3D - is the gigabyte caps that the cable industry is imposing. People are discovering Hulu and Netfix type of programming as a REAL alternative to the standard packages that sat and cable co's offer. It be unfortunate that the kable industry insists upon biting the hand...................

Wrong on both counts. No I won't wear glasses to play games and I rarely wear sun glasses as I don't own any. I used to like the sleek styled sun glasses years ago. But now the "big" 70s style sun glasses are in which I don't like.

I watched the Masters Golf tournament from Hawaii a few months back on my BUD (big ugly 10' dish) using a digital stb. I also recorded it on the same device with it's 1tb internal hd.
The event was spectacular an even though I don't play golf I was mesmerized by the event. It was as if I was actually there in person.

Now the 3d glasses are another matter altogether and while I do not like wearing them I believe in a short few years you will be seeing newer 3dtv's coming out that do not need glasses at a reasonable price. (not at the moment but in time you will and they will be the norm)
Usually at the forefront in new technology I believe this will be the future of all major sporting events.
I can see every newer tv down the line supporting this technology when they can have 3d without those glasses, that is when 3d will take a huge jump.

When I bought my 3dtv it came bundled with a 3d blu ray player, along with a 3d movie. Was not impressed with the 3d effects of the movie as much as the live sporting events but I expect this as it is still a format in it's infancy.

Live events where they don't use those jumping out of the screen effects are much better to me. Avatar was not overly done with stuff flying out of the screen as well.

They already have some 3d TVs showing that do not require glasses... Give it a couple of years and it'll happen.

I guess I'm a little confused why those that don't like or approve of 3D feel the need to make all the negative comments. If you don't like it, don't participate. It would be like non-smokers trying to tell smokers ... where ....... or .......... when ............. uh ............... they ........................ can ................ uhhhh ................... light ...................................???????????

Never mind.

The original poster took the words right out of my mouth. I will be watching that channel a lot now because it was so awesome.
I just recently bought a new TV (LG 60PZ750). Didn't plan on getting 3D because I too thought it was a gimmick that the industry was using to get everyone in the country to go out and buy new TVs (like they did with "HD"). I found that LG on sale for $1399 and since it came with glasses I tried it out. WOW! It's very cool and I really hope it does catch on. I'm a believer now. And who cares what the glasses look like in the privacy of my own home? Not me...

You really think that HDTV was a gimmick to make everybody go out and buy new tv's. Do the conspiracy theories never end?

Aiptek has a 3D camera that is 720p HD for under $200!! Uses 2-5mp sensors. So the cost is coming down even for home movies.
I know it's been a while since this post, but I have that Aiptek 3D camera and it's pretty cool, but (unsurprisingly) the 3D video isn't very good. It's a great effect, but the actual picture quality is crap.

2D video and 2D and 3D photos look alright, but still not very good. If you're looking into getting some actual HD 3D footage, look somewhere else... unfortunately it'll generally cost you upwards of $1000.
