I've been thinking about hooking up my comp to my tv for the same purpose of watching these instantly viewed movies. I just made a quick call to Netflix's Instant Viewing Help line, and talked to a man who said that they don't have copyright protection software that would disable it from being viewed on your set, in fact he said he does the same.

He did say that they aren't allowed to help with the process of connecting because there are too many variables. Hope that helps a little for the second part of your question.

P.S. Their customer service has always been very good to me, don't be afraid to ask them questions.
