If you have not tried already, unplu the box for about 10 or 15 minutes and see what happens.. If not I would call your cable provider and see if they have a fix. The HD may be going and might be time for a replacement box.
I'll try the unplug and report back. My sister said it did this before and the only way they could get the DVR to work is to reset everything and lose it all. Hopefully unplugging works.
