The HD channels are all mixed in with the old music channel assignments.

TBS HD
ESPNews HD
CNN HD
MSNBC HD
Lifetime HD
Lifetime Movie Network West HD
MOJO HD
Starz Kids & Family HD
Starz Comedy HD
Starz Edge HD
Showtime West HD
Showtime 2 HD

BTW, for the Sci-Fi channel fans, do they actually offer anything in hd? Everytime I pass through it I see sd content. Haven't seen an actual hd show yet on that channel.

I know Stargate Atlantis is in HD and some of the movies are.
I currently have Comcast to supplement my FIOS until they add the new channels here in Northern VA.

UHD also runs Firefly in HD. At least they did. Not sure if they still do.

Does anyone know when the new channels are coming to the Montgomery County (Maryland) area?

If you look at post #20 in this thread, you'll see a preliminary list of dates, as provided by someone on dslreports. Since that list came out, Verizon HAS given some dates - if you go to their website, under TV listings, go over to the right, and right below the list of PDFs for each market, you'll see a handful of markets with different effective dates. Those are updated channel lists for those markets, and the effective date is the date that that market is set to convert. If you go back to post #20, I believe MD has a conversion date of 9/17. How accurate is that?

Well, like I said, it came from someone on DSL reports, but based on the list that's on Verizon's website, if you compare the dates in the list in post #20 with the list of dates on Verizon's website, you'll see that this guy has some good source of information. He got most of the dates so far, really close. All this tells me that I'm guessing you guys get converted some time mid to late September.

Another thing that tells me that - I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) you guys have your analogs shut down starting next week. There appears to be about a 2 month gap between the time that the analog shut-down starts, and the channel conversion happens. I think mid to late september is a very safe bet for you guys.

Thanks for the fast response! Sounds like it'd be in time for my birthday. And good riddance, analog.

Can the people confirm that they have ESPN News in HD yet...Seems like the MA listings doesn't mention it, and is TBS and USA there as well...

Thanks

For your sake, I hope its only 2 months... Richmond was converted to all digital in mid-April, and we're scheduled for the realignment/additions in mid-August.. close to 4 months.

I said it was a guess on my part - and I'm just passing on some info posted by someone else, who appears to have been pretty accurate in the past. As for the 2 months, well I think that applies to recent conversions. It's true that a number of markets were converted back in April - I think Verizon was still trying to make that 30 additional channels by spring commitment, so they converted a bunch of markets, and then did nothing. But if you look at the markets that have been converted since, it appears that there is about a 2 month window between conversion and the first set of new HD channels. For example, they started converting us on 6/23. We're set to get those HD channels (again, if this guy is right) right around 8/25.

I also understand that a second wave of HD channels is coming in October.

Don't sweat it - someone on dslreports said that NY is supposed to take 2 days. Some people in NY have been realigned, but some have not yet. One guy said that his transition started at 4:00 this morning, and that everything is (largely) correct at this point (channels are where they're supposed to be, listings are correct, that type of thign). But apparently NY is supposed to be a 2 day transition. So is Northern NJ - part will be on the 30th and the other part on the 31st. I guess they're starting to hit the larger markets, and those markets will probably need to be transitioned in stages. Check out your stuff tomorrow - I bet they'll be transitioned then.

Reports are comping in that NY got more HD channels than expected. Use the zip code of "11746" on http://www22.verizon.com/content/fio...nel+lineup.htm and see all of the HBO channels, plus the Disney programming. Other markets will catch up. Here in California, being later might not be as bad as I thought -- we may get more channels when we finally get the first additions, similar to New York.
It seems typical of a telco like Verizon: they're doing their thing with the rollout, at their speed and according to their plan, and not telling the consumer much (except the "Vague" marketing promises). But when they're done, we'll all be in HD heaven.

I'll carry over something that's making the rounds on dslreports. Someone is reporting that FiOS will launch in NYC with 100 HD channels. Based on my understanding of what's in those posts, NY, which is getting transitioned today and tomorrow, will get a second round of HD channels starting next week, and into early August. That second round will put their list of HD channels well into the 70 - 80 range (for national HD channels).

I'm guessing that this means that these channels will get carried along to future markets that will be transitioned - including here in SE PA at the end of August, e.g.

This person, who apparently works for Verizon, was given a list of the HD channel list following this second wave, and I think it includes just about every HD channel out there. Hopefully he's right.

As I mentioned over at DSLreports, I live in NNJ and I will confirm next week if we get those channels. The person also mentioned that the list was for NNJ also, so hopefully we will get those channels.
