It's all subjective. I love FiOS. I can use a Series3 TiVo with it, not with DirecTV. Yeah, DirecTV kicks arse with HD content, but I'm hoping the title of this thread comes true and it all comes to FiOS too. Having a TiVo far outweighs the additional content DirecTV has, for my anyway.

I'll echo this one. Although I don't actually have a tivo on my fios setup. I really don't mind their DVR, and there are so many things about the service that make it superior to DirecTV for my purposes. I'm waiting for the new HD channels too - hopefully Verizon sticks with this roll-out plan. But based on the amount of actual HD content on most of those new 'HD' channels, it really doesn't bother me to wait for a couple months.

4now directv's #1 in HD the reason IMO HR20 with directv's better than series 3 tivo with cable/fios is because u need a phone line to setup etc anyway thats why to me HR20s better basically has the same features as a tivo im thinking of switching to FIOS for their internet then adding vonage does anyone know the highest MBPS available through FIOS? im getting 30mbps right now

I switched from Direct TV recently and I really like Fios.
The picture quality is better and I like the selection better. That said, there are some things I miss. The ability to have a pre-selected program come on so it can be recorded while you are away. Being able to go to the website and check the program schedules. Getting freebies occasionaly.
I am enjoying Fios more than Direct TV (even when it rains).

With the ability to have a pre-selected program come on so it can be recorded - are you saying that you would like to see an autotune feature, so you can record on your VCR? If that's the case, the old IPG s/w had autotune for the standard (non-dvr) boxes. The dvrs never had that feature (this is on par with tivo and the DirecTV DVRs). When they went to the IMG, they neglected to include that functionality in the guide. They're supposed to be putting it back in. They came out with the first service pack update in some markets, I wonder if this was added back in?

I do agree with you about missing program schedules on the website, although DirecTV got a little flaky in showing my local channels. I stared getting channel listings for stuff in Arkansas. I'd recommend trying a website like zap2it.com. They offer a nice program list, based on your TV service.

30 for residents. 50 and 100 for businesses. 50 packages for residents in some areas.

Default Storms coming---- turn on the radio

Do you previous DTV customers miss the picture going out everytime there is a storm? That's the # 1 reason I got rid of it and the # 2 reason and the # 3 reason. What's the point if its not availavle 100% of the time

In all honesty, my signal didn't cut out that often - it really did take a wrath of God type storm for me to lose my signal (ok, there was one time when a snow storm came through - the clouds killed the signal for a long time - it wasn't the snow that did it), but you're right. Right after we got hooked up with fios, we had a hell of a rain storm come through. I kept waiting for the picture to start pixellating and go out (old habits and all). When it didn't so much as hiccup I realized "duh, yeah, that's right - I won't lose my picture because of the storm!" If I still had DirecTV I most definitely would have lost my picture for at least 15 - 20 minutes during that deluge.

I also love the fact that I get actual local weather on my system!
