Default Verizon Fios TV Audio Issues/Drop on NBC-HD CH 808 Tampa

I have had Verizon Fios TV in Tampa now for over a year. I was one of the first to get it and have had Fios Internet for over 2.5 years. Over this year I have seen or heard an issue with the audio dropping off for about two seconds during an NBC-HD broadcast. It happens about every 5 to 10 minutes. It is very annoying too. No other channels, just NBC-HD and the video is fine, not issue with video at all. I have had Verizon techs come out twice to check the line, feed and all the STB’s. It happens on both live and of course recorded DVR too. On DVR & standard HD STB.

I have seen a few other post reply’s in Tampa and on in Dallas to other threads, but no one has made a new tread posting for this issue alone. I hope to gain the attention of Verizon to fix their network issue with NBC-HD. I have spoken with a local Verizon tech and he has seen this once recently with another Tampa customer and they had logged many hour trying to trouble shoot it at the house level, but this is not a home level issue, but more of a Fios Network issue. The Verizon tech said that they don’t have a forum to communicate this kind of issue to their Verizon Fios network. I hope I can help start this forum and help other with this issue.

FYI, I do love the Fios TV picture, it is the best I have seen even with a OTA. My only issue (besides the NBC-HD Audio drop) is that the widescreen movies in VOD are not true 19:9 widescreen. I have a 65” HD-TV and the WS Movies are framed or letterboxed so much that the actual screen size is reduced to a 40” view and it will not even come close to fill the screen. This had nothing to do with my TV native resolution or screen adjustment. I do miss my HD-Direct TV Tivo with it’s 250 GB HD, the Moto DVR is nice. The HD Tivo is like a Lexus and the Motorola QIP6416 is more like a nice Ford product.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim I'm on FIOS in the Valrico area, and do not have an audio problem on 808.
Sorry you're having issues.

Default Fios Tampa Channel 808 problem

We have the same problem with this channel. Sounds goes out for a few seconds intermittently. Has your problem been resolved? We haven't called Verizon in yet about it. Thanks.

Angry

Hi BKPerklee,

I still have this audio problem, I spoke to a few of my friends that have Fios Tv in Tampa and they have the same audio cut out too.

This only happens on the digital 808. Channel 8 audo works fine.

If we all call Verizon about this, maybe they will do something about it.

Do you know if it's the Verizon feed, or is it the channel itself? I know the HD OTA channels up here in Philly can be a crap-shoot (the ABC affiliate totally drops out from time to time, and it's not due to Verizon).

If you know of someone who gets the station OTA, you should be able to tell if it's a problem from Verizon's end, or from the affiliate itself.

Cool

I have an update. I finally demanded to speak with upper lever Verizon Network techs regarding this audio issue on NBC-HD (channel 808 in Tampa). The Verizon Network SR. Tech told me that there has been a known issue with NBC-HD audio and they have been working on it for a while. The issue is with NBC provider and they trying to solve it. I’ll keep you all posted when they call me back again for a update status.

FYI, I have met many others here in Tampa complaining about this audio issue too.
