I'm sorry you are experiencing so many problems. I've been with Verizon for almost 3 yrs now and I am very happy with their service and customer care. I've had similar experiences with reps who make honest mistakes but I always ask for an email confirmation so I can verify our conversation.
And yes the free dvr is only for new customers who will also pay more each month than us early signers. There's always a gimmick. Give cable a try and let us know what your experiences are. I can tell you I have been offered some great deals to go back to them but I can honestly say that FIOS outperforms Cablevision in all areas except the local taxes. Good Luck! |

That site is a poor one to reference. The ONLY people who post there are posting to complain. You can pull up the same thing For ATT Cablevision Cox comcast etc

Bob, have you looked up the cable company youve moved to on that website? You will find complaints on every major provider, EVERY SINGLE ONE. Nobody is protecting Verizon here, it sucks that you feel you were swindled, but its an illusion to think that all Verizon FiOS customers get scammed. The ones with bad experiences are in fact the minority.

What they did to me was no different than being STRONG ARMED by a bunch of Thugs. And I'am not the only one all I have to say is before you call FIOS do your research and ask friends. I personally have a locally delivery guy spreading the word to every buisiness he visits on his daily route. Its amazing how many people had simialr experieces with verizon all I have to say is WOW!!!Maybe we will have to start our own group meetings once a week

Bob, it really doesnt matter what you believe, or what you do. If you go to DSLreports, and you can write up a complaint there as well, you will find that Verizon FiOS is one of the highest rated providers out there. You will also find people with bad experiences with Verizon as well. ALL providers have good AND bad experiences. Venting in this website HIGHDEFforum, isnt likely to have an impact. People in here are interested in high definition, and Verizon has the best HD picture quality around. Are you enjoying your over-compressed cable co signal? Most cant bare it after they had Verizon HD.
I explained what likely happened , and its not an every day occurance. FREE FOR LIFE DVR's are NOT for existing customers. They TRIED to conveinance you, and make special arrangements that went wrong. The person you spoke to likely had good intentions, but things went wrong in the system because IT WASNT A TYPICAL TRANSACTION or procedure. I'll say this again to the other people in here. EXISTING CUSTOMERS are NOT eligible for free DVR's. Call and renogotiate a deal, there may be OTHER promotions, but you cannot get the FREE DVR ! If that single rep made an error, guess what, thats a human being you spoke to, not a perfect robot. Have YOU ever made a mistake? Verizon as a corporation was not out to scam you like that, neither was the rep. They TRIED to keep you as a customer, by giving you special accomodations, not piss you off further. Every single friend and family that I convinced to switch to FiOS, LOVE IT, and none have ever had any major issues, none have disconnnected it. Out of curiousity, what cable company have you switched to?

This guy sounds like he does work for a cable company. I have had fios for 4 years and my experience has been better then cox cable. My father and my neighbor have it as well and don't have any complaints. So just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean everyone has. Your story sounds very shady and i have not heard of anyone dosconnecting and then reconnecting to the same cable company and getting a deal. Actually your story sounds ludicrous to be honest. Maybe fios isn't the one telling lies here!

Work for the cable company I think not. I'am in cablevision Territory which I think sucks. I hate Tim Dolan and everything he stands for which was a big part of why I bought a house where I could at least get fios. Not available where I lived before because of Politics and we all know what goes on there. The fact that I'am sure you saw on my previous post that the install guy said it was is 3rd dis/reconnect of the week tells me it is a common practice. The sales rep LIED, I found out that they are commision based or at least I hear and tell you anything to sign (Typical Sales Person). Now Verizon needs to dicipline these reps or face the fact that they are going to alienate customers. I know I will never give verizon another nickle. My Cable picture is actually sharper than FIOS I was very suprized there and speed is not that bad speed test had it at 60.98mbps and 8.28mbps and yesterday at 5pm 52 and 7 not bad they have improved. I hate the fact that cablevision has the channel wars that you get stuck in the middle of. but that is the price I pay. Oh,also I have taken 3 customers already away from verizon and counting

Since you see Cablevision clearer than FIOS I would also suggest you change your eye Dr.

Cablevision TV is better than FiOS? Now youre smoking some good stuff buddy. Cablevision has absolutely THE WORST TV SERVICE out of any provider out there. I tried to be sympathetic, now youre just being an ass. Theyve had the same GUI for like 15 years !
Clearer picture? Its scientifically IMPOSSIBLE, and you obviously hate the Dolans so much to deal with their inferior services. All this over ( a supposed) $100 activation charges that a Free DVR would have paid off in 6 months. LOL

Just curious. Why did you leave Cablevision for FIOS? You have told us why you are leaving FIOS to go back. And if the FIOS picture was poorer than Cable why did you even have the discussion with the FIOS rep looking for a free lifetime DVR. Were your intentions to be a lifetime customer in spite of the FIOS weaker performance. Something isn't right here!

The above quote marks boborc's 13th post; he's obviously fumin' and in an uncontrollable tiff over his perceived mistreatment by those evil ones at FIOS HQ. Hardly the stuff that most of us have come to favor as useful pastimes and diversions from the mundane of Miami CSI and such. Hell, we've had some really bloody threads over lots of stuff . . . but the meat here is tainted, unhealthy and not fit for consumption. boborc - give it a rest; they didn't lie, there was a miscommunication - end of story. You ain't goin' to bring FIOS down no matter how hard you try. (where have I said that before? )If you favor the service and quality of Cablevision over FIOS, that's fine too - everyone has a right to their opinion and their choice. It's been a fun thread, but time to die I think.
