Default The wedding is off !

After being a loyal fios fan, it's over. It started with a threat to terminate my service for not paying over charges that they admitted were wrong. This just happened to coincide with my 1 year anniversary. To reward me for being a loyal costumer, they proceeded to raise my bill by $25+. After a heated discussion, I told them to shut it down. No sooner do I hang up, it's all off. Phone, internet and tv. They even shut down my email account. I had to transfer everything to a new one which wasn't difficult.

I think verizon has the best product for the money for the first year.
After that it's not worth the money or the insult of being treated as a replaceable source of revenue.

Good luck to the rest of you.

Dude, every cable company raises prices after your one or two year deal is over. You get a lower price because you agreed to a one or two year agreement. When that time comes, all you have to do is enter into another one if you want to stay at a discounted rate.

As for them cutting off service right away, if you're going to bluff, be prepared to have your bluff called. It almost never pays to let emotion get the best of you.

I thought they'd rather keep a customer at the same rate than lose one. Americans don't haggle.
As far as the disconnection, it's not that they did it. I was just suprised at the speed.
I won't be back, to much billing hassles.

The problem is that too many customers 'bluff' when they threaten to leave. They're trying to get a deal beyond what they could otherwise get. So they call up and threaten to leave. Most don't actually end up leaving. Plus once it gets around that one customer got a special deal just by calling and making some noise, pretty soon the company is providing that for every customer, which gets expensive.

DirecTV had an issue where people who called their retention dept were all getting special deals on their HD DVR. It got so out of hand that the CSRs had their hands tied by the company - they were no longer authorized to cut those types of deals with customers - or at least not nearly as many.

I had the same experience with DirecTV. I thought $300 for their HD DVR (the going rate at the time) as an up-front lease fee was too high, so I tried to get a deal - many others had been able to. I mentioned that I wanted HD DVR service, but that the price was too high and that I was looking at either Dish or FiOS. The CSR never even blinked... so I hung up, and contacted Verizon... I got more information on FiOS TV... liked what I saw, and after talking it over with my wife, two days later I was a FiOS TV customer. The CSR at DirecTV thought I was bluffing about leaving - I wasn't.

The point is, with so many people bluffing about leaving just to get a better deal, these companies really do have to take a hard line when someone IS bluffing. The problem is that they don't know who's bluffing and who isn't, so they make a judgement call.

I see ,American companies don't put out bids. Vz like any successful company is very aggressive in their purchasing negotiations.

I never said you were not an American. By the way morons do not graduate top in their medical school class and send three children to Ivy league colleges.

I think sending three kids to ivy league schools is pretty "Moronic". That is a whole lot of wasted money my friend. You can get a great education at many institutions across this great land. An education is only what you make of it; is not predetermined by the name of the school you attended. Why do people have to boast about such things that make them look so foolish in the end.

Please let this thread die and go away. I originally just wanted to share my experience with vz. I wasn't b!tching about them. If you read the title, it was meant to be a joke. I'm a big boy and deal with my decisions. The rest of you need to relax.

Even worse ..........you are wasting SOMEBODY else's money. Damn, are you pissing me off now. I am not trying to give a life lesson, but I hire college grads all the time where I work(Biotechnology- more specifically medical devices) because I want to give the inexperienced folks a shot. Unfortunately, time in and time again, the ones who actually earned it are employable where as the ones who were given IT are complete waste of SKIN. I am tired of seeing applications with absolutely no work experience. Flip a burger or two, wait a table, do something with your sad life other than take handouts and attend uppity universities who teach THEORY but no PRACTICAL applications.

Just let your kids know that college is where you "learn HOW to learn" and I will be cool with that. Let's face it, most important learning occurs after college.

Sorry everyone for the "FLAME", it just hit my soft spot, so to speak. Also sorry to the Original poster for taking his topic........welllll...........way OFFFF topic...........

Oh those cable companies will give you the drug cheap, sometimes a little extra, like HBO, but then when you're hooked. There is no mercy. You must pay their price or get cut off.
