sometimes when watching my DVR especially on FOX HD shows like house or bones. The DVR will suddenly freeze, maybe the picture will freeze sound will keep going and then the picture will catch up. Or it will scramble out for a second and then come back. It's very minor hiccups but annoying as hell.
Anyone noticing this or should I call verizon. don't want to deal with Tech support if it's just a fox problem and not a DVR problem. |

Does your TV have a QAM tuner in it? If so, there's an easy way to tell if it's your DVR - plug the cable directly into your TV and scan for the HD channels. Watch Fox that way for a bit (vs. through your DVR) and see if you see the same issue. If you do, then it's not the DVR (sounds strange that such an effect would just happen on one channel if it really was your hardware).
At that point you have to ask if it's due to Fox or due to Verizon's signal. Again, if your TV has a digital tuner in it, there's a relatively easy way to find out - hook an antenna up to your TV (assuming you could get the signal OTA) and watch the OTA broadcast for a bit. Another way to check it out - ask your neighbors. Specifically talk with those who don't have FiOS. See if they're seeing the same thing on their particular systems. I'm a former DirecTV customer, and I still hang out alot on some DirecTV forums (just like seeing what the company is up to). Whenever someone posts something like this, I always go to my FiOS system and see if I'm seeing the same problem. I post whether I am or not. That gives people on the forum a sense of whether the problem is with the channel, or with DirecTV. In light of that, I don't think it would hurt to ask people immediately around you what they see on that channel. If they're not FiOS subscribers, and they see the same thing... the issue is most definitely with Fox. |

JPL,
It's funny this question should come up!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watching the World Series through the DVR on FOX.......recorded it to miss the REPETITIVE commercials.....and I'm getting a frozen picture. This TV has NO tuners..............any ideas on how to check? Easy enough to change STB's..............but I'd like to avoid the hassle if possible. I'm leaning toward FOX since I haven't seen the freeze on any OTHER recorded program! PS Just checked with all my colleagues at work...........same problem.....recorded or live, FIOS or cablevision. I guess FOX has a problem!!! |

Was over my brother in laws last week for the playoffs and noticed this happen too. I was like WTF? Of course the signal coming into the STB is good. Either a nationwide verizon-Fox problem or just a Fox problem, who knows. Im sure enough people have called this in by now for them to investigate. Its not a problem in your premises.
Having cablevision , I cant say if I can relate due to having issues on almost all channels .

I think it is a FOX problem. Watching football a couple of weeks ago I noticed the same thing, then on monday talking to some co-workers they had the same problem but 1 is OTA and the other is Direct TV. With others having the same problem leads me to believe it is FOX.

I hardly ever watch Fox live. So I'm gonna guess it's fox and move on with my life. I haven't had the issue on say Man Vs. Food or my wife hasn't complained about her All My children skipping. Fox should really get their act in gear and fix their shit.
