Default Yamaha 661 losing audio on non dolby digital

Hi,
Does anyone have any ideas? I have a v-661 yamaha receiver. hooked up with hdmi cables. When watching dobly digital the sound is fine. when the program changes or goes to a commercial the sound seems to come from the subwoofer only. everything worked fine until recently. i dont think any of the settings are incorrect.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've got the 863 and have the same problem. I don't know what you're using for a tuner but I've got TiVO and the signal will drop for a split second which causes a handshake issue. The receiver automatically reverts back to it's original state and when the signal comes back within a split second, the receiver requires a new handshake.

I personally think the receiver is a little too sensitive.

Hi, I have the Yammy N600.
I have HDMI, going into my STB from the TV, as well as Optical. I mostly watch tv using my compnonet connection, and I have never had an issue. Quite a few posts here mention issues when you hook up your AVR to your STB. Most programing is in 5.1 so try the optical cable.

Hope this helps
