Default Audio ONLY

Folks,
My father-in-law had a question which I can't answer..........without going to his house & experimenting!!!! He has found some music channels that he likes very much!! Is there any way to shut down the video i.e. audio only? My 1st thought was to use the audio out on the back of the STP[he's hooked to the TV with an HDMI cable]to an audio input "somewhere". on the TV. ARE the outputs on the back of the STP line level needing an amplfier or is there an amp in the STP????I think NOT re: an amp in the STP...................so back to "square 1". Any ideas????

The line audio output of STB requires an amplifier. It is just a pre-amp signal that requires standard amplification to connect to speakers via a separate receiver/amplifier.

All he would need is any stereo, even an old shelf system, so he could run rca red/white cables out of the STB straight into the stereo receiver. So yes he will need some type of receiver, but anything he might have will work, he doesn't need an expensive system for just music. If he doesn't have anything like that, have him look on craigslist, poeple sell those old shelf systems for about $25 all the time there.
