Folks,
FWIW, I was having the "no signal detected" for a long time.........................switched boxes 2x.....same thing!! Italian 926 found the problem: when my system was installed the technician added 2 attenuators to knock down the signal. When FIOS themselves knocked down the signal[for technical reasons], my signal got knocked down also..............so the attenuators were now no longer necessary................a fact which Verizon failed to tell their clients.......so once the attenuators were removed............strong signal...........no more problems!! I realize Verizon couldn't "tell" all of its customers.....that a Verizon tech coming to the house and testing signal strength would have seen the problem...............but the 2 week wait is NOT something anybody should be really happy about.....I was lucky....a Verizon tech ON THIS WEBSITE!!!!!!!

For me it doesn't show snow when it cuts out. It shows green for a second then it cuts to all black saying "no signal detected." Then it comes back to normal.
Cra1g, for me it happens on both inputs that is why I suggest you try both just to make sure it is the box.

Of course, the component output on the STB could also very well be dying, which would mean he just needs a new STB.

The newest firmware that JPL is talking about (1.7) is supposed to really help with the HDMI handshake issues according to people that already received it. Though it was put on hold since there were some other issues it caused, so Verizon is trying to fix those and then they will continue the rollout.

My TV input going out was my first concern. I do have two component inputs on my TV, but the second was for the Wii. That is why I switch my STB connection from Component to HDMI. Then I started having the same output issue on HDMI.

Actually HDMI was worse. On component, the video goes out for a sec and comes back, but I keep audio. On HDMI, I loose everything for a second.

I was chalking it up to a STB problem since I saw it on two seperate outputs, I figured it was something upstream.

Verizon will replace the STB at no charge. If it is a DVR you will lose all your recordings though.

I know, that is why I am dealing with it for now. My plan is to get a Tivo at some point and buy a DVR extender.
