Smile Should I hold out for LED?

What are the advantages to LED flat panel lcd displays. I am looking for a 37" to 40" and notice that some manufacturers are very close to offering LED in these smaller sizes. What are the benefits of these? I see they will be pricier. A 32 LED will cost as much as a 37" non LED! I am looking at getting a 1080p LCD non 120hz. Wondering what benefit LED will have if any.

Expensive LED HDTV so all those DLP have dropped in price on the Shopping TV networks you can get 65" dirt cheap, but not for me. But the same size in LCD is over $2,000 - 3,000.

Just be warned. Samsungs so called "LED TVs" are not actually LED TVs in the technical sense. They just call them that to get more people to buy them. They are infact just LCD TVs with LED backlight system. It does make them better then standard LCDs with the florescent backlight, but its not true LED like the really big monitors at Times Square for example or digital billboards. Those most likely are true LED displays.

But the point of LED TV's is brightness versus weight / power savings... I think backlighting by LED is a fair name for LED TV, those huge billboards rely on thousands of tiny LEDs and cost in the millions...

I disagree. They are still LCD TVs but with LED backlight instead of florescent back lit. Do we call the other LCDs florescent TVs? Of course not because they are LCDs. The reason Samsung is calling them LED TVs is because LED is all the craze for lighting now, so they want them to sound like a more radical new tech compared just changing the back lighting type.

I think it will be quite some time before LED trickles down to 3rd tier manufacturers.
