Its those guys who spend all their money on beer and broads have nothing left to buy HD sets. You know, the guys that say "Triple damn HDTV!" Abbreviated to 3DHDTV.

It is a new projection format that is being tested for a possible new use for movie theaters and auditoriums.

Using 2 professional HD projectors (about $100,000 each) they are able with electronics and software - take a live HD feed (via satellite I believe) and project it onto a movie theater sized screen and (here is where I lack a fact) with or without the use of special glasses give the audience an actual 3D "full depth" view of the game/event.

For those who have seen it, they say it is literally like being at the game/event and no "3D headaches."

I saw a demo of this sort of system in the Professional JVC suite at CEDIA 2005. For more see: 3D Like You Would Never Believe!

That could be interesting. I guess it will require the colored glasses which will change the colors and is not nearly as impressive as the polarity system. The polarity system does not alter the color at all.

Where did you get the info on the use of the red/green glasses?

All 3D today uses the polarity system as far as I know.

I assumed this would be the NFL trying 3D for the home and what the JVC folks told me is the polarity method requires two projection sources, so that would not work on a home TV. The last 3D movie I saw was Shark Boy and Lava Girl in the theater and it used colored glasses.

Yuk - that must have been awful.

If home 3D TV is being based on the red/green system - no thanks. A gimmic at best.

By the way, if you own 2001 you can watch this film in 3D right with your existing equipment. Just buy a cheap pair of neutral grey sunglasses and knock out one of the lens's. This will give your brain the impression it is seeing some depth due to the delay of light to the "covered eye. VERY effective during the "waltz of the space ships" - after the ape throws the bone into the air.
