Default Aaxatech LCoS same as SXRD?

Is SXRD basically just a LCoS system for bigger projectors or just Sony's way of renaming things? From what I've read, they both seem to be the same to me.

SXRD is Sony's name for it's proprietary iteration of LCoS just like D-ILA or HD-ILA is for JVC.

Hope this helps...

I don't think AAXA tech has SXRD, that is Sony's technology... I looked on their website and they have a AF115 SXRD projector that looks amazingly similar to LG's AF115 projector that uses Sony's SXRD technology. The MSRP at $2899 is pretty cheap for SXRD though...

Actually, after some checking around, that IS LG's AF115 but LG isn't selling that in the US, they're letting Aaxa be their US distributor or something and it's going for $2299 actually. That pits it right up against Panasonic's AE3000 @ $2200. So I guess the question comes down to SXRD or higher contrast (Panasonic AE3000).

What do you guys think? $99 worth going for SXRD but having a 30000:1 contrast instead of 60000:1?

Man, I need to see if I can see the AF115 and AE3000 side by side. Probably make deciding a bit easier :P

If you like the LCoS technology, don't count JVC out...

Yes, that is the best option. I coudn't find much in the way of reviews for the AF115 but based on what I have read, I would certainly pick it over the Panasonic PT-AE3000U. Making a choice like this without having several first hand reviews is not a good idea. I would expect some more reviews on Projectorcentral.com soon. I read one there and one at AVSForums.
