Default 3net to Launch First 4K TV Series

Quote:
3net Studios, the nascent Sony Corp., Discovery Channel, Imax joint venture production arm of 3D channel 3net, Nov. 14 announced its initial slate of original 3D and 4K TV series and specials.

3net Studios’ lineup includes live-action and animated projects such as “Space,” the first series to be produced in what the company calls “TotalD” (native 3D 4K, 2D 4K, 3D 2K and both 3D/2D HD formats), as well as “Marksmen,” the first 3D motion comic series for television. Additional 3D projects include the documentary series “Frozen in Time: Our History in 3D;” the live-action special “Wingsuit Warrior: Jeb Corliss vs. the World;” and the travelogue series “Daydream.”

Directv has already stated they are going to support Ultra HD, and HVEC is coming along.

Said support isn't going to arrive until sometime in 2016. That is according to DTV themselves.

But if they stomp on it and it has even worse compression artifacts than what we already have does it even matter? Not to cry the sky is falling but what I have seen regarding the adoption of HD, blu-ray, and 3d doesn't get me excited over 4k (although if successful would be great).
I would love for the day to come for a sub $3000 3d 4k projector to be sitting in my HT with some native UHD content to feed it.
