Question 4k?

There are already several 4K projectors out. Has anyone anounced when the first 4K panels might ship?

} well this question has been answered.

I don't know ,i would have to see a 4k display. The human eye can only see so much, then it makes no differece. Other question , what media would be used...a 4k blu-ray player? Downloads suck at this point.
Im open to see it. Most people that have seen 4k say its not a big jump over 1080p even though 4 k number sounds big. Then again some people have issues telling 480p from 1080p, so big question mark

Every blu ray manufacterer is making 4k players now, preparing.
The displays will be out in 2013 or late 2012. Want one? if so take out another mortgage, your gonna have to buy the house again.
I think by 2014 prices will be more in line with consumers. But! No media as of yet.

I wouldnt buy a 4K display until a bluray source was available to feed it a good signal.

Using what specs? The BDA has not set specifications or standards for 4K BD yet.

Not a chance of pricing falling that quick. Excellent chance UHDTVs will never be a mass market product. Recent analysis says UHDTVs will be about 1% of total TV sales . . . by 2017

There is a spectrum that the human eye can actually view. There is not a spectrum for what some people will spend just to have or lack the knowledge of what they are buying and assume more is better. As far as broadcasting very few people that have cable hooked up to their 6k tv could tell you that the broadcasts are being transmitted in 1080i not 1080p or could tell you which was better if p wasn't farther in the alphabet. Its like buying a $100 monstercable 6 foot hdmi that you are going to probabily never even unplug when you don't know that your larger shiny hdmi is not even making a difference. Now 150 foot hdmi cord would you see a difference? The monstercable hdmi would benifit in rediculously long distances between the device and tv.

There are so many things in this post that are false, misleading, or nonsensical that I don't even know where to begin - best to ignore it everyone.

the 1080P format is definitely NOT sharp enough for home use. If you sit only a few feet away from a 1080P screen, it begins to look blurry and details fall apart. 4K format would help the situation.

Distance is important on any set no matter the resolution , there is always a point beyond which resolving power is lost. Move inside this distance and it becomes apparent. The higher the resolution the closer the distance. This doesn't mean that 1080p isn't sufficient for most if not all home viewing.

480p can be sharp enough depending on where you are sitting and how big your screen is.

Perhaps your are just not sitting at the optimal position for 1080p?

Trust me 1080p is more than good enough for home use.
