monster cables are good when it comes to analog cabling, when dealing with Digital it is much less of a concern until you get to a greater length that the cable must run.

But on a side note there are cable makers that make just as good of quality as Monster, that cost WAY less.

It depends on the installer. Mine didn't bring an HDMI cable only component. HDMI is considered by many as a non-standard install.

I think you'd be surprised how many use component instead.

HDMI is still a relatively recent connection. HDTV's have been produced for many years with Component as the highest calibur connection.

First, 99% is way to high. As was said HDMI has only been available for a few years. U-verse is connected to SDTVs way more than it is connected to HDTVs and way more older HDTVs than those with HDMI inputs.

Second, many HDTVs do not support HDMI to the strictest level and many connected devices have issues with HDMI. We get posts about this all of the time. Using component cables generally is trouble free from this standpoint.

I have read this previously in this forum and I found it to be true as well. My living room TV uses HDMI from the AT&T box and I use component in my bedroom HDTV to AT&T box.
The blue light signifying the HD signal on the AT&T box always stays on using component even when the box is turned off and it can be pretty bright at night. The HDMI connection turns off the blue light when the box is turned off.

Just an FYI

Uverse installed yesterday. He arrived on time with all cables and boxes. After he did something in the box down the street he came back to the house and was done in about two hours total for a new feed installation. He had all the cables he needed including an HDMI cable. It is working well. 18Mbps internet is clobbering my old Comcrap service.

Wow, surprised they would provide an HDMI (even tho they can be bought for <<$10) as their job is install the equivalent of the STB, not install your TV. Maybe like coax cable providers, they might be required to touch the TV to verify QOS and therefore have cables.

Coax would definitely be cheaper on their part.
