Default Is there a way to download shows from dvr to pc?

I've got a few shows recorded in my dvr... is there a way i can get access to hard drive and pull them off and drop them on my pc... i dont want to do a playback and record on my pc.

No. The files are encrypted and are broke up into many small files. You can read the hard drive with a windows computer, but nothing will make sense to you.

If you have the right DVR and it is networked to your media center PC, you can get the SD recordings . . .

Better to record them on HTPC to start with then one can edit, store or burn to "HD on SD DVD" as desired no need for any expensive HD DVD burner or expensive discs. And memory is so cheap these days. I just added a terabyte to my system for less than $250 delivered.

I only have my uverse boxes, but they arent connected to any media system... i wonder if it is possible... how would you set up a media center with a uverse box?

The only thing you can do is to input the SD from the Uverse box and record them in SD. That seems to be one of the requests Uverse users want is the ability to connect the Uverse service to the Microsoft Media Centers. Uverse and MCE use the same kernel of software, I'm told, so it may not be too far fetched. I'd buy a package for a second DVR.
