Default Switch from ATT-marketed DTV to U-verse

Has anyone switched to Uverse from DTV marketed through BellSouth/ATT? ATT tells me they will coordinate the DTV cancellation and billing change and I won't have any DTV cancellation charges. I know I'll have to return my DVR and receiver, but is trusting the billing coordination info like buying a share of Madoff stock? Or maybe I'm just really a crusty old cynic...

What department told you no cancellation fees?

Interesting...I was told at least through my channel it isn't possible, especially because as you are aware the DTV bill comes on its own.

Yep, my thoughts also. Well, I'll be somewhat north of astonished if it happens as ATT says. I pointed out to the rep exactly your point and felt like she was following a script to a point, while seeming to be responding reasonably well to the wrinkles I gave her. The whole effort is based on my trying to get the same, or better, services for less $$, so getting a $urpri$e charge isn't what I want for halloween. Thx for the reply. I'll follow up with results...

Does AT&T not bill for the DirecTV services? I know they used to for Dish Network.

Correct as of now all billing is done by DirecTV...it will not be until next year sometime that DTV is on the ATT bill

DTV and ATT bill me separately, with each bill containing an entry referring to the joint DTV/ATT agreement. I'm sure it will be a perfectly seamless conversion. Har, har...

As it turns out, it seems to actually be pretty much automatic, with mucho checking on my part to ensure bill correctness. Looks like all will end well when I get a final divorce settlement check from DTV. The pro-rated credit now shows on the online bill sliver they made available to me. ATT ran thru a final debit for their portion, and their math seems to correctly match the calendar date of the switch to ATT Uverse. Thx to all responders on this forum. I'll be using it more, I'm sure.
