Component to Coax Adapter

Newbie here.... I have a Uverse Mot.VIP1200 box and Hauppauge HVR-950Q Hybrid TV Stick (USB input) for my computer. Computer has an internal blu-ray player, and HDMI 1080p 23" monitor (getting beautiful HD from the blu-ray) so I know my equipment is all HD capable. The problem is the lousy picture (SD, or HD) from the STB. (Just to coverall issues... I do have HD service from Uverse.)

Uverse tech came out and advised using component cables to the TV Stick's coax input with an adapter...... Is there such a thing? I tried wadding through the forums and couldn't quite get an answer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is, would that help my fuzzy picture?

So the AT&T tech came out and recommended a component to coax converter???? I don't think such an animal exists. If it does, it probably will cost a pretty penny. I assume the fuzzy picture issue was when you connected the vip1200 to the computer via the RF coax. If so, that does not support HD and the bottom of the barrel way to connect. Does this issue with a bad picture occure with your HDTV?

Since U-Verse is IP based, I don't think you can bypass the STB and use the QAM feature of your card like you could with cable or FIOS. That would be the only way you would be able to get digital HD with that card via U-verse if that was possible.

BTW, does the Vip1200 even have component video? I thought it was only HDMI for HD.

Yes, the choices are HDMI, Component, S-video, Composite, and coax.

As far as a coax to component converter? Don't know if such a thing exists... A quick check at google and monoprice.com show nothing.

Don't know if this would work or not, but one option would be to find a video card that accepted an HDMI in connection. Or if your monitor itself has an HDMI in connection, you could use that.

Yea, I figured it did, but when I did a serch of the v1200 it showed the box and it didn't have a component output, so I was a bit . Must of been an older version.

As awol stated, if your monitor has an HDMI input, you can bypass the CPU and go strait to that. If DVI, you can use a DVI to HDMI cable, but you will need and audio source.
