Default Att Uverse remote problems

I have ATT Uverse and have been pretty pleased for two years, so I talked my sister and new brother in law into getting ATT in their apartment after they got married. They did but they have been having problems. The weirdest one which I am seeking guidance on is that their remote stops working after about 6 PM in the evening everyday. I have not verified this myself but I doubt they would lie, they say they have to get about 2 to 3 inches away from the box in order for it to change the channels. The living room in their apartment is no more than 15 X 15 so certainly no matter what time of the day it should work in there. They have called multiple times and had techs come out but no one will come after 6 when the problem happens which is frustraiting them to no end. Has anyone had this problem or can someone shed some light on this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I started having this problem after I changed from a tube to a flat screen tv. There seems to be some major lag between the remote and the DVR. Sometimes it just wont work at all. What I do (it works every time but is still very annoying) Press the power button on the remote, this turns off the TV but the DVR stays on. Press power again the TV comes on, the DVR power light blinks twice and goes off, then you can just press ok to get the dvr back on and it will work until it decides to freeze up again. This is not an "after 6" problem for me its an all day problem. I am afraid that if I call a tech I wont be able to replicate the problem without having them just hang out until it happens.

Sometimes, and only sometimes the IR from the TV can cause interference with the STb and remote.

I am not sure if this is the problem, and example is even with the Turtle beach IR headphones, they have a lot of problems with Plasma TVs, but none from LCD TVs

This is a very odd problem and we have had the techs out several times and when they clear the line it works for a short time (while they are here of course). I have removed splits in the line to this TV and U-Verse box but to no avail. Finally I think I have a work around but I would love to know how to solve it permanently. It appears that the HDTV interferes with the remote for the U-verse box in some way. If you turn the TV off and leave the box on, the remote responds beautifully but obviously you cannot see it. So, if you know what channel you want to turn to, turn off the TV and punch in the number. I have the same TV in another room and it works fine. Moving the box further from the TV seems to help as well. My latest theory is that the length of the cable run and the strength of the signal to the box does contribute to the problem but I need time to play around with it. Good luck and if anyone can take this any further, i would appreciate it.

I am having this same type of problem. I have a LC32D64U and when I turn off the tv the remote seems to work great it blinks the green light every time i use the remote. But after about 15 seconds of turning the tv on, it stops working again. When the tech was here installing, the first box he installed didn't seem to work with the remote at all and so he thought it was the box and went and got another one, he left with it spending the 30 minutes updating again. After it got done it is experiencing the same problem. I tried turning off the OPC function thinking maybe it was the problem to no avail.

I have a LC42D64U, and I have had absolutely no issue of the sort, could be batches of remotes.
