Default Question about U-Verse service...

This past weekend we were visiting family that just recently switched to U-Verse. While the video channel options seemed just as good as my DTV or maybe better (they had VRS), I was underwhelmed about the HD picture. WAY too much de-pixelation (brief and also screen freezes of maybe a second or two.)

I was also underwhelmed by the internet speed. I did several speed tests and for the most part, got scores of 3Mbps with one time close to a 5Mbps response. My Qwest DSL clocks in on the low end at 6Mbps and I've seen as high as 10Mbps. However, I will admit that the upload speeds were greater (average 1.5Mbps while the best I've ever seen both on cable and DSL are 750Kbps.)

While I can live with the slower internet speed, the de-pixelation would annoy me to no end.

Are the above problems typical with U-Verse? If so, I think I will stick with DTV even though I would like to have VRS for the Tour de France and a few other sports programs that they feature.

i think it depends on distance from your VRAD. Mine seems pretty stable. Ive had a freeze here or there but no more than i had with directv. I had more pixelation with directv but not enough that it bothered me. As for internet speed, it depends what you are paying for. You can get up to 18mbit downloads. they have like 3mb/6mb/10mb/18mb i believe. All of them come with the 1mb upstream.

My brother in law has uverse in a different town. I noticed his did pixelate alot and freeze. But he was alot further away from his vrad. Also, the newer rollouts you have more bandwith. I think im on a 32mb profile and some of the original were on 19mb. I believe they are referring to bandwith but id need someone else to chyme in on that.
