Well, I have had enough with those idiots over at direct. They wanted to charge me a service call to come out and fix their broken equipment, not to mention possible charge for equipment if they decide to charge me since I did not buy the service contract. I did the chat when ordering was able to get an additional $50 rebate for a total of $300 which I thought was pretty good. One question though, how do I get my rebates, I see the $90 for internet and the extra $50 from the chat agent but how do they credit the extra money? I have heard some pretty good things about Uverse and can't wait to get it hooked up. Oh yeah, is it really going to take about 6 hours for this install?

I see that you are also in Katy. Do you ever have service problems with Uverse during hard rains or Hurricanes. That was the only good thing about Direct last year when Ike came through.

chance are your rebates will be redeemed through this site: www.att.com/rewardcenter
once at this site you will select the radio button for U-verse put in your BAN aka Billing account number and verify your Zip for where the service is, and youare set from there.

Install is finally done after a couple of rough days. The install tech did not disconnect the old phone line so I did not have a phone for a few days and he gave me the wrong wep key so I was unable to setup my wireless network. I found it on the bottom of the router today and was able to set everything up and it works great. I must say that the PQ actually looks very good on all of my tv's and the internet speed is not too bad either. Can someone help me out here, it seems that for some reason all the sudden, my internet speed drops really low then will pick back up a minute later. Is it possible that I have a device in my house that is causing interference? I would recommend to anyone wanting to get away from satelite service to switch over to this service. My past sat service provider had a horrible PQ when trying to watch SD channels on my HD tv, but Uverse does not have this issue.

SD channels on your HD TV?
Give me a break. If I wanted to watch SD channels I would have kept my tube TV. I have had Directv since 94. They always have been great service. Never a hassle when my Dish needed to be upgraded. No problem getting them out to fix the dish after an LNB went out and needed to be reset. Sometimes you need to talk nice, but in general they look at your subscription and note you are a good customer. After that it is easy. I have more than three friends who have tried to go the AT&T Uverse way. All gave up and told them to pack it up and take it back. Most problems came with setup. Tech could not make it work and usually cut some other vital line coming into the home. Like phone. DVR capacity is a joke. I could record one week of shows and never have room if I did not watch everything that week for the following week. Only one HDDVR allowed. Everything else comes from this one DVR. So good luck if you are trying to record shows and watch something on another TV. Most times you are out of luck because of conflicts. I have AT&T Uverse for my internet. I have the option to go to Verizon FOIS but have not because the speed (10mbs) is very good. Plus they dropped my price to 35 dollars a month once Verizon came to town. I wish you the best with TV. Only thing I can say is Directv sucks if a major storms blows through, but I love the three HD DVRs I have in my home that have at least 100 recordable hours of HD programming. I think you will find it very limiting in time with a very small HD DVR when all your shows are hitting the air. Last edited by hersheytx; 10-13-2009 at 06:46 AM. |

trekrider, you may be on a 19mb profile. Which ive heard if you are watching a hd channel, recording another, etc, it will slow your internet down sometimes due to your bandwith limitations. search for uverse users forum via google. Alot of good info there.
As for the service i just switched from directv as well. I definately like the service alot better on uverse. That and the fact i can watch any shows ive recorded in any room. I'm not seeing the limitations the other guy posted. Its 250gig dvr, same as my directv one had. It never got half full. But i am not a huge tv watcher so i am not recording everything out there. a couple of shows and some movies that i usually delete after watching anyways.

So if the Uverse receiver breaks in a year will you still have to pay for the service call?

AT&T seem to have alot better trouble shooting technology than the Sat co's. If I do have a problem in a year, I bet they will be able to check the receivers remotely and send me whatever I need. As far as watching SD on my HD set, there are times that the kids want to have sleepovers and watch kid friendly shows, so they come up here and take over my TV. They would complain about the bad picture with my previous service provider. With the nasty weather that we have had here the past week, I bet my screen would have been stuck on "searching for sat signal" but to each his own. I like this service better and the tech and customer support are very attentive.
