Did you know that particular play was voted to be the biggest sports moment in the past 100 years of LA history? I'd rank it right up there with the greatest sports moments of all time.

Oh, and I know the Raiders have that "bad boy" image (or should I say HAD...), but do you recall 1983 and the Superbowl that year?!? That Marcus Allen TD run was also among the best ever IMO~

Not sure I follow you on the Vikings... What do you mean by a 50 year run? Is that how long they've been in Minn.? Seems about right... I'm 51, and they were my 1st favorite team as a kid. When you mention Rosie Grier & Roman Gabriel, it doesn't mean that much to me, as at that time I lived in Montana, and I was into Fran Tarkington and Joe Capp & the Purple People Eaters! Interestingly enough, I remember watching them in black & white because that was all we had back then~

as for Roman Gabreil,,,he was the NFL slut before Joe Namath wore his nylons. Rosy Greir was an interesting figure. A member of the fearsome foursome (deacon jones, merlin olson),,,but all in all one of the best defensive lineman to play the game. The rams were fun to watch, back when football was a thumb in the eye, a handful of dirt and grass shoved up the opponents face mask, cleats that would leave a mark,,,,you catch me drift.

I can't fault the owner for firing Garvey for just cause and I see no way any court will find fault with the firing. If you are going to try to buy the company you work for by a hostile takeover of some nature, wait for forced bankruptcy sale or other, the time to do that is after resigning. A paid marketing representative for the L.A. Dodgers almost certainly has the job according to terms of a contract and it is a certainty those terms were violated by those public comments.

I haven't been following the L.A. Dodgers story but might read about it now and see how bad it really is, it can't be good based on what little I have seen so far. What a mess.

Looking at it from the DODGER BASEBALL FAN point of view, McCourt is a scumbag.

If Garvey is part of an ownership team, I would expect he will be back in some capacity. I haven't followed the story to know what kinds of things McCourt has been doing to result in such negative opinions.

Regardless, Garvey will be back... He's as big a Dodger as there is really, and he'll always be a Dodger to the Dodger fans...

As for McCourt, the whole thing is really that he didn't buy the Dodgers because he loves baseball, he bought the franchise to try to wring everything he possibly could out of it to fund his extravagant lifestyle...

One of the first things he did was to break up the business into (I believe) 22 separate entities (parking lot owned by someone, concessions owned by someone else, etc. etc.) so that he could better disguise his financial dealings...

The 2 things that really brought all of it out were

1) His divorce proceedings. Fighting lawyers tend to uncover a lot of stuff when it's he says vs. she says... These two are a real pair~

2) The details of that deal that he had w/Fox Sports to buy the Dodgers TV rights for $300 million dollars showed that right off the top of the deal, $100 million was to go directly to his PERSONAL bank account(s), and NOT to the Teams funds in order to try to make the team better.

IMO, The Dodgers are one of the GREAT BB franchises... EASILY in the top 5 for sure~

I just can't stand the fact that this bone-head would come in and "rape" the franchise (along with it's many fans) just to buy another mansion and/or support his mistress(s) or whatever...

She wrote of combined salaries of $7 million per year, plus $46 million to buy side-by-side oceanfront estates in Malibu, $27 million to buy side-by-side homes near the Playboy Mansion, additional properties in Massachusetts, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming and Mexico, $400 dinners and $1,000 per-night hotels, private jet travel around the world, even house calls from hairdressers and makeup artists.

Now I read that it looks like he's worked out something w/his soon-to-be-ex-wife so that she will grant him sole ownership of the Dodgers. I just hope that the courts will allow MLB to take back the franchise. IMO, he's nothing but poisen...

Pretty much.Don't see how you can ruin such a storied franchise in such little time.It takes most owners 20 years or so in other sports,he's done it in less than 10.
