Yamaha RX-V563 reciever Samsung PD-1500 Blu Ray Yamaha RX-V563 reciever??

I have a Yamaha RX-V563 reciever and a Samsung PD-1500 Blu Ray player.

If I hook the Blu Ray directly to the TV, everything works. If I hook the Blu Ray up through the component video/optical audio portion of the reciever, it works. If I hook the Blu Ray to the reciever through the HDMI cable, something funny happens. The Samsung start screen comes on, then when the Blu Ray begins to play the disc, the TV will flash purple/green for a couple of seconds, then goes black.

I've tried different connections, different cables, and still no luck.

Is this a question of the Blu Ray and the reciever being uncompatible, a setting that needs to be changed on the reciever (I've scoured the manual & unable to find a thing) or something else?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

It is HDMI hand shake issue, make sure you have updated FW for your Bluray player. You have to make sure HDMI is pass thru in your Yamaha AVR settings.
