No surround sound (URGENT)

Hi guys, I just acquired this Onkyo TX-SV909PRO AV amp, I hooked up with a 5.1 system with a dvd player.

My question is when I turned on the surround mode there is no audio producin in any of my 5 speakers.
What am I missing here? Each of the surround mode I selected dosent seem to work.

As I do not have the original manual and remote control I do not know what are other setup options.
Only when I turned off the surround mode I only get the audio through my front 2 speakers which is normal right?.

I know its a old amp but if you guys have ever owned or experienced with this amp before please tell me what are the proper steps
to turn on the surround mode. I'll appreicate any of your reply, thanks.

OK, exactly WHAT have you hooked into this amp, and HOW did you hook it up ?? You need to describe each unit you have hooked into it ( make and model # ) and how it is hooked into it. By the way, I found your manual online with about 10 seconds search time.

Yes I found the manual online but it dosent help when all my settin is accordin what the manual suggested. Ok let me list down the way i set up this unit in detail.

A dvd player and a LD player has been connected to this amp.

1: All 5 speakers connected through FRONT (8ohm 100watt), REAR (8ohm 140watt),
CENTRE (8ohm 120watt) (refer to pict attachment 1).

2: On the main unit itself, I selected Video-5 (LD player) as my source on video input selector and have selected either MULTI SOURCE or REC OUT.
(refer to pict attachment 2)

3: Under Dolby Pro Logic mode,
Centre mode - wideband
Centre & Rear level - +12
Delay - 20 msec
Front Treble & Bass - +12
Centre Treble & Bass - +12
Balance control - 0db

4: When surround mode is off, audio can be heard through front L/R speakers.
When any of the surround mode is selected except off function. No audio can be heard not even front L/R speakers.

So where do you think the problem lies? Any steps that I'm missing or some adjustment that I need to do on remote control or the unit itself is faulty?
