Hi, I have recently started to buy more and more blu ray movies, which can only be played on my ps3. But since I need to play them on my ps3, I loose the surround on my dvd player. So, therefor my question is how do I connect the surround speakers to my ps3 correctly? I have taken a look at it, and it seems like each ( 6 ) individual speaker is connected seperatly into the back of the dvd player. (PIC OF THE CONNECTION IS ATTACHED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE THREAD)
The dvd player model is (Pioneer XV-dv323). I am a complete noob when it comes to this, so if it is indeed possible to connect it to my ps3, please try to detail it as simple as possible. If you need any more information at all, please ask and I will provide. Cheers -Gimegkos Last edited by Gimegkos; 07-05-2009 at 01:22 PM. |

You don't connect speakers to a PS3 or a DVD player. Speakers are connected to a receiver. All of your source equipment (PS3, DVD player, cable or satellite box, etc) is also connected to your receiver. If you want to watch a Blu, you select the PS3 source on your receiver. It processes the incoming digital audio, converts it to analog, and sends the analog sound out to each speaker. The same thing happens with all of your sources. You select the one you want on the receiver and it handles everything from there.
The picture you attached is pretty blurry. But, if that's the back of your DVD player, it looks like you probably have an HTIB (home theater in a box) where the disc player is built right into the receiver. That's why the speakers seem to be attached to the DVD player. You will need to attach the audio output of your PS3 to an optical input on the HTIB in order to get surround sound. (That assumes the receiver in your HTIB has inputs for external sources. But, I don't see your model on the Pioneer website.) Last edited by BIslander; 07-05-2009 at 01:41 PM. |

Yes, it is a HTIB.
So, you say the reciever is the dvd player itself? So I need to connect my ps3s audio to my dvd player? Hm, the dvd player got optical line in, and audio line in, but I do not know how to connect the ps3s audio output the dvd player, as I am using HDMI connection. |
