First of all, those cube speakers are designed to be used with that Godforsaken Acoustimass module. The crossovers will not work well with anything else and those cube speakers won't go very low in frequency. You are seriously lacking midrange using those cube speakers, especially matched to a true subwoofer.

Realistically, you should get new speakers. If that is not an option, even with decent crossover settings on the woofer (80Hz) and the receiver (speakers at 200Hz, since that's about the lowest they go) you will be lacking mids.

Thank you. So by not having any midrange am i missing alot. I love the Martin logan sub it sounds great. My crossover is set at 80 the THX settings. Should I change to 200 for the bose speakers. Later i am thinking of purchasing the Mythos One Towers.

Will towers give my midrange. and could i connect those to the B speaker output on my reciver. I am running the Bose VCS 10 center channel and 5 cube speakers for a 6.1 setup. I am tempted to run best buy and buy some midrange speakers. Will I notice a dramatic improvement.

The thing with Bose is that they are very overpriced with very little performance. It's like buying a Ferrari with a 4-cylinder engine, thinking it had an 8-cylinder, but you never noticed because of the car's light weight or you drive gingerly.

The cubes are meant to mesh with the Acoustimass module, which is essentially 1 or 2 mid range woofers masquerading as a subwoofer. When you swap the Acoustimass module for a true subwoofer that goes lower in frequency, you are losing a lot of midrange, but gaining much more low. Either way, it's a bad scenario, since you are missing crucial frequencies.

I'd opt to sell the Bose system (very high resale value, surprisingly) and get at least a pair of floor or bookshelf speakers and a matching center channel to build around if funds are tight.

You are missing a lot in mid range, a A/B comparison will be best test for u if you really want to know what u are missing, the problem with Bose is that cube speakers are good only for high frequency and bass module produces the mid range and low end frequency does not exist. with your set up with 80hz cross over you need bookshelf speakers or mythos one from Def. Tech. as u mentioned. For Bose 200 is good cross over but it will make you sub producing mid range and will be working all the time.

So If I set to 200 on crossover will i loose all my base on my sub. My audio must be horrible. This whole time I thought it was great. And then today i just realized i am missing mids.

if you are controlling low pass in AVR (200) than on Sub move it to Max.

the downside of small speakers is missing of midrange so you movies will be dialogues and then explosions, nothing in between.
bookshelves are best in this regard, gives you good midrange and good for music listening.

No. You really need to replace those Bose cubes with something else, anything else would probably sound better.
