Default Best Speaker System for around $1000

Hi. I've been thinking about getting some decent speakers to go with my Samsung 56" DLP TV. I've checked out a few sites and come across a couple enticing setups. The Bose Acoustimass 16 Home Entertainment Speaker System, and the Creative Gigaworks System. I know the Creative system is for computers. I was wondering if I could also hook them up to my TV. Similarly, would I be able to hook up the Bose sytem to my computer? Regardless, is there another system you would recommend instead of one of those two? Thanks.

There have been quite a few of these types of threads. I'll give you a quickie answer: Be sure to stay away from bose. Now that's out of the way, I feel the best speaker system for $1000 is the one from SVS. The sub that comes in this system is better than any other sub you can find for $1000. That alone should push you towards purchasing the svs system. svs
Other than that, I am a huge proponent of really great bookshelf speakers in the $1000 range per fronts and adding the extras later. Do a search and I'm sure you can find the threads where I suggest this.

Default Energy

The Energy Take series. The Take 5.1 comes with the surrounds, center and subwoofer. Many reviews have said that they are the best speakers for under $1000. I just bought my second set for my living room after I finished the theater in my basement using Energy speakers.

Focal makes a kick ass sub/sat system. After a reciever and cables you will be over $1000 but it is worth spending a little mor now than 2-3 yrs from now. Bose is ok, but for the same $ or a littl more, you can do s much better. I know tweeter carries Focal don't know if you have one around your area.

Chevy or Ford?

Same thing with speakers.

There are a lot of factors involved in choosing the right pair for you.

Sound, performance, looks, price.

Shop around. Listen. Buy the ones best for you.

I have never been a fan of bookshelf speakers. If you were considering Bose, consider these.

They look and sound terrific, well built and moderately priced.

The Take 5's look nice. They're a bit old school though aren't they? Do they have digital input?

almost every post will have a different speaker brand that they considered the best. Why because they own that brand and have to convince themselves that was and is the best deal.

Default The problem with shopping for speakers

hdtvpros.com is right up to a point - people want to feel they made the right choice, so will suggest the same products they purchased.

The problem with buying speakers is that you do not have them all together in the same room. Unless you can switch back and forth between different speakers, how do you ever compare one to another? From memory?

When I bought my HD television, I was able to look at many different sets at Best Buy, all playing the same material, all side by side. This let me select the right mix of what I thought looked good and what my pocketbook could afford.

Speakers should be sold the same way.

A bit condescending and insulting don't you think?

That's a bit of a slap in the face to those that are trying to be helpful.

The gentlemen asked a question and got responses. If you don't have anything worthwhile to add, try saying nothing.

The problem there is that if you had a ton of speakers at best buy playing all the same music, you wouldn't know which is which, or which produces the better quality. With tvs, you can just look at one, then the next, and so on. Not so much with speakers.

Are you just looking for speakers? If so what would they connect to.

If you just have that smokin big tv and no receiver then that will change the recommendations a bit....for $1000.

Yes. I'm looking for whatever I need for a complete setup. And I would like to hook it up to my tv, my xbox, my ps2, and my computer if possible. I bought optical sound cables for all of them. Any suggestions?
