Default Computer Speakers for TV

Morning All,

Have a Dynex 32 in TV in the bedroom, it's a bragin basement TV but very happy with it.

Unfortunately speakers are pretty lousy. With my window A/C going I find myself cranking volume up to 100 and still struggling.

I wanted to buy a sound bar but unfortunately my budget is tight and was thinking about buying a pair of computer speakers.

Anyone try this route as I am looking to spend maybe $50 or so...

I use an older Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 system in my bedroom that I replaced the subwoofer with an 18" powered sub. For a small room it sounds really good, so I'd think you should be able to do what you want.

Now, there could be a volume control issue for you. I use the volume control provided in my U-verse DVR to be able to use a remote for volume control because my HDTV sound output is not able to be controlled. So if your TV will allow the sound output to be controlled by the remote, hooking up external speakers (PC speakers) will work fine. If you don't have RCA jacks for the outputs but have external speaker connections they may be used. To know the final answer you may need to try it.
