No , not for the average music enthusiast that looks like a kid in a candy store when approached by a guy with two brand new shiny, sparkling tower speakers, all educated thought process slips out the back door. This is why it is our duty to make everyone we know aware of the scam so that these leaches take a huge hit in the wallet, the sooner they stop making huge profits from uneducated buyers the better, I despise deception in sales.

Yes they got a family member and I was not happy about it but they made one huge mistake, the idiots made a plan to come back to the same place the very next day to sell another surround set up, well I was waiting and got a full refund , with a smile and stopped two more potential sales. It is illegal to sell anything from a van or even a table set up like a yard sale in our community without a license/permit to do so, with a patrol car parked within site of the area and an officer standing in plain view I had no problem getting the money back, I have never seen that van around Cape May again, never, lol..

Today, you don't actually have to have a van to sell 'White Van speakers. I's called Craiglist, and these are listed on there every day of the week.

Yes, and I would bet most of those listings are by scamees trying to get rid of their parking lot purchases -- especially after all their friends and everybody else on the 'net reminding them what idiots they are.

Gee......and I was just approached in the Giant Eagle Supermarket parking lot.......by a "white van". Seems he had an "extra" set of Paramax P612's to unload. According to the graphics on the boxes, they looked like a nice set, he even showed me the price on the boxes....$3499. A good set of Klipsch goes for less, and most have heard of Klipsch, but, Paramax? I even told him I never heard of them. Well, anyhow, he said there was no work order for them and just wanted to dump them, get something for them. He also said a guy earlier in the day offered him, (actually "them", there were 2 guys), $600.....BUT.....in a post dated check, which I thought was pretty funny. I did offer him $50...tho, he declined. LMAO

Now, thinking to myself at the time, that if there were no work order for this set, then, someone is going to be missing a set.....LIKE THEIR WAREHOUSE?! And all they would have to do is trace "where they went". Then, I thought, "Nah....missing my a$$." Tho, for $50, the cabinets might have been worth it...maybe. LOL

Hi,

I came across this forum while doing a google search on Acoustic Audio HD518 -- so it looks like they are not on the white van list and came up on the search results because HighDefRev has the subwoofer in his profile. So I was wondering, HighDefRev, if you like this brand and if anyone else has any idea about this system (because it does say it was $1200 and now it is in the $200 range).

Also, do you think it is okay to put the 2 rectangle front "wall" speakers in the ceiling also?

Acoustic Audio is a brand usually sold by The Deep Discount, though I have seen other online retailers selling their equipment. I love the sub. It matches my Yammys very well, and produces good sound below 25Hz ( I can't hear anything below 25Hz, but I can certainly FEEL it ). Unfortunately, it's no longer being made. As for the other speakers, I don't have any experience with them, though I've never read anything detrimental about them. As far as placement goes, I suppose the ceiling would work as well as an in-wall mounting.

Thanks so much HiDefRev for getting back. I did see that the speakers were also sold on Deep Discount. So maybe they are discounted because they are discontinued. We are in the middle of a major remodel and can't afford spending alot on a system, so I just want to get some in and the be able to upgrade.
