Default Klipsch HT Speakers

I bought a set of Klipsch RF-3's Towers and a Klipsch Center Channel RC-3 a few years ago. I just bought a new 65"Mitsubishi Laser TV, Yamaha receiver, to upgrade system to HDMI and the salesman threw in a Pioneer BD 120 Blu Ray. Now due to the center channels large size and my new TV stands limited space I had to get a different Center Channel speaker, a Smaller one and the one that the salesman gave me a deal on was an Energy CC-5, they don't sell Klipsch! Now tone wise will this match up with my Klipsch? Im using it and Im just wondering If I would have been better off buying a Klipsch smaller center channel? Whats your thoughts? Will this Center Channel work with the Klipsch or should I try and sell the big Klipsch and get a smaller one or live with the Energy? Anyone want a cheap Klipsch set up? Thanks Bill

Klipsch have the loaded horn type mid/tweeter and it produces a very different sound footprint than a conventional "domed" tweeter. I would not advise mixing the two, I think you will notice the difference in tone or "timbre" as the sound moves across the front 3 speakers. Initially, just use your RC-3 center and see how it sounds.

While not optimal, the speaker "could" go above the TV...or make a wood shelf to project out infront of the TV, with the TV supplying the weight to hold it down, and set the center on that. I think with a little brainstorming you should be able to use the speakers you have. And remember, a huge amount of the audio information on a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack comes out the center channel....a tiny speaker produces tiny results !

Yes you are right I do detect a loss of timbre matched results when watching movies I feel the center channel is lacking. Unfortunatley I cant put the speaker on top of the TV its a flat panel and the front is no good as the TV mount isnt enough to bring the height of the TV up to clear it if placed in front. As you say Ill have to brainstorm and see if i can adjust the shelveds on the TV stand a "Tech Craft" to squeeze in the Klipsch I may also get the smaller Klipsch center ill have to shell out another $250 but in the end Ive learned a lesson the sal;esman sell ya what they have not what you need, at least i got a deal on the TV and stand, along with the Energy center and the free Blu Ray. Im definatley gonna make this fit some how! Thanks Bill

Thanks both of you were right on the money! I had to move the lower shelf on the TV Stand, and the clerance was so tight I had to take off the adheasive rubber feet I had on it and finally I got the Klipsch Center Channel speaker to fit below the TV This is my original that I had with the Klipsch S3 Towers what a difference in sound it made you were right about "Timber Match" like night and day compared to the energy that I immediately put away so now I have a big doorstop Ill put it on the forums classifieds maybe I can get a few bucks for it or trade something? Thanks again Bill
