Example of binding posts are on the right side of the receiver rear view pictured. Click on the picture of the speakers for a view of a spring clip design.. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...T6200B&tp=6419

1). So if I got the 16 gauge speaker wire...can I use that for every speaker I have? 2). Do certain speakers require different color speaker wire? 3.) What is the exact advantage of replacing the stock speaker wire from the Onkyo System? One last thing: On Newegg.com there is a Onkyo 6200 system for $550, with free shipping? And the Onkyo 6100 system on Accessories4Less is like $530 with shipping. What is better about the 6200 system and is it worth the extra money? |

The 6100 (factory refurb) from a4less was $430 shipped, but is now soldout. I think you are looking at the HT-S7100 that is $519 ($530 shipped) I would go the 6100 route if they have more in stock when they are ready to buy. If not and it comes down to new, I would go with the 6200 from newegg for the $550 over the 6100 but would take the 7100 over the 6200 for the same price (especially if you need speaker stands).
1. Yes. Except for the SUB that has a different cable that is a RCA cable or digital coax cable. 2. All speaker wire is the same. It comes with 2 wires connected together for each speaker. Just make sure you connect the positive end on the receiver to the positive end of the speaker and the neg end the same. Don't cross + and -.. Usually the speaker wire is marked with ++++ on 1 side or with a colored stripe on 1 side of the cable to help you connect correctly. Some is colored red and black, but not in most cases. Example of monoprice speaker wire with blue stripe. http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...t=1#largeimage 3. In laymen's terms, the thicker the wire the better quality/ability it will be for transferring the sound from the receiver to the speaker. This is especially true for longer wire runs and when you "push" the receiver volume wise. It is not a huge deal for you while you are in a dorm since the receiver wont be pushed much (we cranked my shit in the barracks all the time ), and speakers will be relatively close. So if you wish to use the standard wire, you will be fine. But I would definately change it to 16 awg or better once you move into a place of your own.
