Hello everyone,
I have myself a subwoofer debacle, it all started when I purchased my 52" LCD and new AV rack/TV stand. About three months after everything has been connected I started enjoying my new big display and noticed that my subwoofer just wasn't outputing much of anything, so I tried turning up the SW volume knob and nothing. Then I went into my AV receiver and increased the SW output to plus 12+ db and nothing, so it was time to try another SW cable. All I had was a video cable and I tried it and nothing, is a video cable going to work for a SW cable for testing purposes? So after that video cable failed to work, I plugged in the original Monster brand SW cable and my SW came on with some real bass! I'm happy that everything is working now but in the back of my mind I still don't have any reason why my SW quit working, shouldn't the video cable have worked even a little?Thank you in advance, Techlord.

The video cable should have worked since it, for all intents and purposes is the same as a coax audio cable. I am assuming you are using the single coax cable from the LFE connection (actually pre out sub connection on your receiver) from the receiver to the sub.

originally used just the single rca cable for the LFE input on this Boston Acoustics sub:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...st-White-.html the manual said if use the rca to L/R rca cable, then you can use the adjustable frequency knob which is does make a difference when adjusting whether or not I want midbass frequencies or not. It's not a bad sub for the price and for the 250 rms watt output! I don't care that it's white and my onkyo S4100 is black!

So you think the short was while it buzz and hummed, but now the short isn't well shorted right now? It did start working right after I pulled it out from against the wall, then went into the Denon setup and it starting working. M&K was bought out buy another company in 2007, I wonder is I still have a warranty?

Still sounds like a short in the circuitry of the sub to me, without any other info or being there to test/troubleshoot myself...
