Question RCA To S-Video Adapter, For A SD DVD Player

Hi, I'm having an issue with a rca to s-video adapter. My SD DVD player has an s-video out. My SD TV has an s-video in. When I use the adapter, I get no pic. When I use composite, I get a picture. I have Fios, and it's on channel 3, if that makes a difference.

Thanks

If your DVD has S out and TV has S in, why do you need a adapter???

Good question, lol.
I was testing the adapter I bought for a old analog video camera, and a VCR, they both only have composite.

What I left out, was that I tried the DVD player with just a regular S-video cable, and no picture either.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi GymBrat

Sounds like you might have a bad S-video cable....got another one.

Check your DVD player's manual to make sure you have it set up correctly for S-Video. Some players (my 8-year old old JVC player, for example) require that you also have the player connected by composite-video (yellow) when you use an S-Video connection. Some players (the same JVC model) cannot output both S-Video and Component-Video simultaneously and have a menu item or button on the player to toggle back and forth between s-video and component-video output.

Hi Nevada,
I was thinking it might be bad too.
Brian brings up a very good point, thanks Brian.
Maybe it did work, and I didn't realize it. I had both rca/video, and s-video plugged in at the same time.

Thanks guys
