Default No audio from sony DVD to Bravia using HDMI?

Hello Folks.
I recently picked up a Sony KDL-52V5100 and soon after a DVP-NS710H/B. I was able to watch one or two DVD's fine but twice the audio on the TV locked at whatever volume I last watched the DVD at. I was not able to turn volume up or down even after power cycling the TV and even attempting to watch another DVD. I knew the remote was working as it would display a Blue I in the lower left corner and say "Volume -/+" next to it.
After resetting the TV for the third time and attempting to watch another DVD it would not give any audio from the DVD (using HDMI cables every time) and the output was only 480I. Is there some way to force a new handshake with the DVD player to TV? I tried switching inputs and the TV is able to control the DVD player but now I do not get any audio and it is not upscaling the video anymore.

This is my solution, take it back!

The TV or the DVD player? I tried it on component output again and it appeared snowy. I know the component inputs on the TV are fine as I have a PS2 and a Wii hooked up to those without any issues. I guess I'll bring it to Sears and ask for an exchange (15% restocking fee...) Should I stay with Sony on the DVD player?
