i know that dvd recorders can only record in 480i but what i was wondering was if they could pass the hd signals from my receiver? now i know that some upconverting dvd recorders will output up to 1080p but that is only through hdmi. are there any dvd recorders out there that will take an hd signal from component and output the same signal back out through component? i'm completely aware that when i record that it will be in sd, all i'm wondering is whether they'll pass my hd signal if i'm just watching tv

I'm not aware of any that can do this.
I'm not even aware of any DVD recorders that have component input; if there are, I'd be interested. No technical reason why they couldn't do pass through, but I doubt that any of them do. |
