Upscaling using the component output of the OPPO DV-970HD

Hello, I am a newcomer to this forum. I have read somewhere a way to hack the OPPO DV-970 HD DVD player so that it may upscale to 720p and more using the component output. Unfortunatelly I did not print the page and now I don't know the site where I read this information. Can anyone help me in this issue? Thanks a lot.

Remember that you are still going to be viewing 480i data. You will notice almost no difference from your display between 480p and the 1080i upsampled data.

There is a way on encrypted disks (CSS iirc) to view the 480i films in 1080i but again, the difference is so minimal as to be of marginal value.

Properly setting up your display will render better results.

Although Doug is right (almost always) this time not. The hack is not "Oppo Approved" because of copyright laws. Search AVS Forum for the hack. There is a program to upgrade any firmware version.

Be totally aware that Oppo, Hollywood and the Almighty are not backing this hack, and for a "new" HT player, the hack can lead to other issues.

Besides, the PQ will not be far superior to the 480p upsampling done by the player itself.

It is kinda fun to implement...just because we can. The author of the hack really did his homework. Is it worth the effort? Especially with HD titles of both ilks coming forth with some regularity? maybe/maybe not.

Thanks for making me "tell all" 5. And Robert, please read the entire 7 pages over at AVS before you burn the patch and plug it in. If you do not wish to do all that reading, just slap a good movie into the machine, turn down the lights and kick back.

For those of us with 1 HDMI and another HD source (Dish), its kinda nice to have an alternative input. And Doug, as for 480i vs.
720p, don't spoil my delusions!

Another place to find the hack is at the following:

-xxx.videohelp.c0m
-Go to the DVD Hacks button, on the left-hand menu bar.
-Search for OPPO 970.

The hack is so good, it allows for component-out upconversion to 720p/1080i for CSS-encrypted discs on the 970 & also breaks the HDCP encryption for the HDMI outputs on both the 970 AND 981. (For those seeking to use the device on a "NON-HDCP COMPLIANT" DVI-based device or for those with HDCP handshake issues, whether from the TV, switch and/or receiver.

Is there an alternative freeware or shareware CD R mastering and burning s/w to Nero Burning ROM ? I have been using Image Burn for my DVDs but I dont know how to force mode1 and disable multisession. I can certain force ISO 9660 only. tks

I will paypal 20 bucks to anyone who sends me their cd to do the upconversion hack on the 770. If it worked on yours it'll work on mine. We're all good people here at HDF, right?

I'm not too technically skilled and would rather not deal with all the steps to doing the hack. I do, however, want to get the most out of my player, and my ancient sony pfm510wu.

any takers?

Hi I purchased this plyer as aid abv the remote is weak and I am unable to understand whats Upscaling to 1080p or1080i Hw ever I have connected to my Full HD LG 35FR TV but I am unable to play any Hi-def Videos I only get an audio but No video Pls help I bougt it in Hyderabad send the any solution
