Default DVD+R dual layer and Sony DVD player question

I have an older Sony DVD player(DVP S-560) that will not play my "burned" dual layer +R discs... I contacted Sony and they told me that indeed, it doesn't... They were kinda vague when I asked if their newer ones would play them... Sony help strikes again!

Can anybody please help me out? Does Sony make a DVD player that is dual layer(burned) compatible? I want the player to be able to upscale when I purchase an HDTV later this year(LCOS)...

I'm partial to Sony ES, but if they don't make one, I'd gladly buy another good brand... Thanks for all your help!

theres a good list about which dvd players support which media on http://club.cdfreaks.com/ I think, but I'll be honest, I'm too lazy to find it, maybe you can find something....

Do a search on the internet for bitsetting burned dvd's. This is usually done automatically on the burner side making your dvd player think it's reading an original dvd-rom. You'll find lots of information on this. Bitsetting is particularily useful in situations like yours where older dvd players can't recognize burnt dvd's.
