First of all let me tell you what kind of TV I have:
Toshiba 57hdx83 (57" Toshiba HD projection) I am looking to get a new DVD player that has/supports: 480p/720p/1080i output DVI output Optical output (Probably don't need to say that) Price: $200-400 or under Great picture quality It is SOOO hard to find good advice on other websites, I figured I could get some here. I know any progressive scan dvd player will look good, but I am looking to find some specific DVD players that you guys/girls reccomend. Thanks very much for your help!!! |

I will probably get one of those Samsung 100 dollar cheapos with the 1080i upconversion with a HDMI to DVI converter. It doesnt seem like a good idea to spend a whole lot on one, since HD-dvd players will be available soon. Of course, those HD players will probably be a grand when they come out. |

I was seriousley thinking of buying one of those Samsungs also: http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-HD-841-H...QQcmdZViewItem but from everything I have read, when you use DVI, everytime you shut the player off, you need to go into set-up and configure it for DVI all over again. Every review I have read said the same thing. I dunno |

Check out Oppo 917H it's got the highest rating for an upscaling DVD from Home Theater's review/test team Search OPPO this forum for replies. Sounds like the best available for 200.00 w/HDMI to DVI or HDMI /HDMI cable inc'd in cost

i have 2 dvd players that do what you ask the denon 1910 is a bad choice as macroblocking is so bad it makes the $500 player a serious turn off. recently added another theatre room to my home and was looking at the new denon 1920 it has the same chip and same problems, saw the sony 3100ES its around $500, I have it running to a Denon 3806 then to my toshiba 62hm195 all through HDMI have watched a couple of movies and it is awesome, spend the money on the sony avoid the denon until they switch chips.
