Default Best standard DVD movies to watch on Upconverter?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to know of some of the best looking standard dvds when playing on an upconverter. So far two that have really wowed me are Collateral and Black Hawk Down

There is a thread just below that names some good quality SD-DVD's. I would reccomend Sin City, Once upon a Time in Mexico and any of the newer Star Wars films.

Black Hawk Down Superbit
Bad Boys II Superbit
Training Day
Van Helsing
The Rock Criterion Collection
Any of the Star Wars prequels
W.
Gladiator Signature Selection
The Fast & The Furious
Exorcist: The Beginning

There are probably dozens more, but this is what comes to mind glancing at my DVD collection; these all upscale very well, even on my poorly-scaling Blu-ray player!

Just about ANY movie that looks good in SD will look a bit better upconverted. A few that come to mind are Master and Commander, Far Side of the World, Sin City, The Fifth Element.

Did you get my message about your questions regarding "Taking of Pelham 1 2 3"?

Please visit my review thread and note that I made some references to your questions regarding the original and how it compares to the remake...I address you specifically in there.

If you have any more questions about the two films, feel free to leave a comment in there and I'll get back to you.

Some other good looking movies on SD DVD are Krull, The 13th Warrior, Minority Report, and Open Range. I wish these and many others would make their way to Blu-ray though.
