Default DVD Recorder went dead

My wife bought me a cheapo Funai WV10D6 dvd recorder a year and a half ago. It worked like a charm to record DVD's from stuff we had on our TiVo or DVR, but we mostly used it to put our home videos onto a DVD from our mini-dv camera. We were getting ready to finalize a disk with a bunch of our home videos on it and the player died. It won't power on or do anything. Because the disk isn't finalized we're not able to play it and we do not have another copy of most of that footage. My question is...is there anyway to finalize the disk so we can watch it? If I found the same DVD recorder model would I be able to finalize it then? I'm just hoping to be able to figure something out so that way we don't lose all the footage because it has some important stuff on there.

When I put it in the PC it doesn't show any files on the disk, but it shows the space is used up. I downloaded a program and it showed the files there on the disc, but in order to send them to my computer I had to pay for a key code. So I was just wanting to see if there was any freeware out there before I risked $30 on it to maybe work.

Give this little tool a whirl http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/U..._Download.html

simply download and install. put the disc in the drive before you start the program.
