Default Harmony 880 for $120 shipped.

For anyone looking for a great universal remote that will not break the bank, Amazon has the Harmony 880 on sale for $120 shipped. I just got mine a week ago and love it. I got mine from Amazon for $109 shipped, but $120 is still a great deal IMO. I have the 550 ($75) I got a few years ago and loved that too. But it is now sent upstairs to my other HD A/V setup I recently purchased. I like the button layout a bit more vs the 550 and the color screen is pretty cool and bright. The included lithium battery and charger dock is a big plus too. Great buy for someone in the market for a great remote for around a hundo...Setup is a snap and is easily updateable..

Do you think the price on this is so low to clear out stock? That's more than 50% off... Wonder what the new model (if so) would be like in comparison?

Logitech still lists the Retail price of the 880 as $249, but it has not been that expensive in over a year that I have seen. The price dropped a bit after the Harmony One came out last year. I believe the 880 1st came out in mid 2005 or close to it. But when I checked on it a few months back, it still was floating about for around $160-$180ish.. So when I seen it onsale for $109 shipped a couple weeks back I pounced. I almost bought another 550 (which is a great remote too) for $65 shipped, until I stumbled upon this deal.

Could be a clearout, but that is fine with me. The Harmony One that came out last year was the upgrage/replacement of the 890 I think. It has some nice improvements like a touch screen and better button layout..It came out with a suggested retail price of around $250. I think and it still going for around $200 in many places.. Amazon lists the Harmony 1 onsale for $189 shipped. I would definately take a Harmony 1 over a 880/890 any day, but not at near twice the price.

the Harmony One doesn't really do anything for me, i'm not to crazy about them changing the design, it looks like it doesn't fit in your hands as well as the 880/890.

It seems like the 880 went up kind of a lot since I bought mine a few months back, as I said I picked up a 880 pro for a little under $85, with packaging manual ect...

Well, here's the real weirdness, Amazon has the one listing for the new one at the price you're showing... AND one that's a refurb for $176.

Looks like someone missed the memo!

That's the most anyone should pay for an 880. I paid $125 for one from Dell a year ago.
You should be able to get a 'One' for that price in the near future, if not sooner. The buttons on the One are way superior to 880 as is the charging cradle.
But if you don't like touch-screens, you may not like it as much. They are both very capable remotes.

Does the 880 have RF capabilities? I didn't see a RF extender as an accessory.

It was not supported for a while but they came out with an adapter recently that supports the PS3 very well from what I have read. But it costs an extra $50-$60.....

Thanks Bigloww, I ended up purchasing the 880 and I got the Nyko remote for the PS3 that came with the IR adapter. It won't turn on the PS3 but it seems to do everything else and it was only $12.

Maybe it's just me, but I was frickin stoked to get that remote and when I got it all hooked up I wasn't that impressed. Maybe I set to high of expectations? although it is a $125.00 remote. it seems cheaply built and when i pick it up i can hear something rattling around inside of the unit. very annyoying! don't get me wrong there are some neat features, but to me, it didn't live up to the hype.

Nothing should be rattling in it...exchange for another one, or another brand if you believe you can do better. Not to say it is everyone's cup of tea.

The 880 is a great remote, I had mine for years before going to the ONE! The ONE has a way better button layout and feel compared to the 880,890 (had both). It does the same as the 880 but with a touchscreen that works great!

That "Rattle" your hearing is the motion sensor to turn the backlight on when you pick it up. 880,890 and the ONE all have this feature and all of the remotes that I have had the small rattle sound which is very NORMAL!!

Also, depending on how much gear your trying to run it may be hit or miss. If your getting the 880 to run a tv and ps3 then it will seem overkill, but if you have a huge home theatre system then it is well worth it!
